FishingMagic member Jonathan Smith was targeting the species when he caught his new PB perch of 4lb 6oz from his local Press Manor coarse lake.
Press Manor Trout Fishery is of course well known to FM members as it is the venue for our annual northern fly fishing event.
The fish was Jonathan’s only bite of a short afternoon session and fell for a lobworm tail fished on a size 12 hook, in conjunction with a blockend feeder stuffed with chopped worm and crushed casters. The lob tail was fished on a long hook length, paternoster style.
Successful tactics included twitching the worm back five feet every 10 Minutes, searching all the water in front of him.
