In Adrian’s own words:
With a change in the weather and the rivers not looking very good for barbel or chub with cold AND coloured conditions I popped down to MBK Fisheries at Liss in Hants and the short session was well rewarded.
I set up a 14ft Fox waggler rod and fished a size 20 Series 2 match hook tied to a Microplus XT 2lb 3oz hooklink. I fished a very light waggler set up over the marginal shelf and although I was fishing overdepth I set the shotting so it would fall through the water slowly. I had left a few maggots in a little water and flavour so they could also be used as slow sinking hook baits.
I fed lightly with chopped maggot and casters and a small quantity of Dynamite Silver X roach groundbait to create a column of attraction.
The only big fish of the afternoon came at 3pm and was a roach in mint condition weighing in at 2lb 3oz.
