NOSTALGIA |
I got the idea about running an occasional series like this when I had an email from a FISHINGmagic member who said he’d come across an old article of mine in a magazine published in 1971, and would I like it. Of course I would! It would be interesting to see what I’d written and how it compared to what I would write today about the same subject. And then I thought it would be interesting if we could publish more articles that were written more than, say, 15 years ago. If you did some angling writing that far back and you can let us have a copy without infringing copyright laws then please send them to me at graham@fishingmagic.com and we’ll publish them on an occasional basis. |
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED: February 1987, cover price £ 1.00p. Editor: Dave Phillips. OTHER AUTHORS IN SAME ISSUE: Des Taylor, Neville Fickling, Chris Tabbron, Bob Baldock, Dave Coster, John Bailey, Barrie Rickards, Paul Green, John Nunn, Brian Godfrey, Roger Miller, Peter Stone, Max Cottis. ADVERT FROM THIS ISSUE: Bite-Rite Bite Alarm, Price £ 35.65. ORIGINAL TITLE OF ARTICLE: The Graham Marsden Column – ‘Fashionable Fishing’ LAST year I joined a fishing tackle company as a technical consultant on specialist tackle. Until then I’d never really given fishing tackle any seriously deep thought, apart from, that is, thinking about what I wanted when I had to buy something, and delving into the intricacies of rod design when I pursued the subject as a college project. Since then I have been giving the subject of tackle design a lot more thought. I have realised, above anything, how much we are dictated to by fashion, and how influenced some of us are by the current ‘stars’. The latter observation is not of course unique to anglers.
