The bream in the Old Lake at Bury Hill are enjoying a spot of ‘tea’ in the shape of small PVA mesh pellet bags commonly known to match anglers as ‘Tea Bags’ and two anglers who enjoyed some fabulous bream action during Easter weekend using this method were John Everiss and his fishing buddy Ray Tingley, who shared well over 250lb of bream with the odd slab topping 8lb fishing bags with an 8mm pellet or corn on the hook.
The FishingMagic cameras joined venue expert Russ Evans for a spot of bream fishing on the Old Lake recently – you can read the feature HERE – and although it was tough going on the day the potential of the venue to produce big bags of bream was clearly evident and it is noted for its huge shoals of bream which are regularly caught to over double figures with a specimen of 9lb 14oz being caught in a recent match.
Despite cool overnight temperatures bream sport everywhere is hotting up at the moment with big fish, and big catches of fish, beginning to come from a variety of waters – including a reported new record of 23lb 3oz.
