The Great British Outdoors is set for a spectacular revamp following the launch of a new campaign.
Bovril, a favourite for generations of outdoors enthusiasts, is inviting nominations for five outdoors locations that deserve a unique makeover. From broken beauty spots, to rundown riding paths, and forlorn fences, Bovril has created a crack ‘Outdoors Revival Hit Squad’ to tackle even the toughest restoration challenge.
Encouraging the public to get involved with the Bovril Great Outdoors Revival campaign are outdoor enthusiasts John Craven and Philippa Forrester, both of whom are well known for championing the Great British countryside.
John Craven, commented, “In my mind, there are few places on earth more beautiful than the British Countryside, so I am delighted to be supporting Bovril Great Outdoors Revival Campaign. From the humble scout hut to a rickety old fence, there are many things in our surroundings that could do with some tender loving care! So come on, get involved by nominating your favourite outdoors location and you could see it restored before your very eyes.”
Philippa Forester further commented “‘I really believe that there is nothing better than being outside in the fresh air. Going for a relaxing ramble in the beautiful British countryside is one of my favourite things to do in my spare time, so I am delighted to be supporting Bovril Great Outdoors Revival Campaign. So come on UK, get voting for your favourite places to get the restoration treatment!’
Nominations for outdoors locations that deserve some loving care, are now being accepted at www.bovril.co.uk. All nominations will be displayed on the website, where the public can vote for the most deserving projects. The top 100 projects from the public vote will then be narrowed down to five winners by a team of Bovril judges.
The Bovril Outdoors Revival Hit Squad will crack open the paint brushes and power tools in January 2010, with the ‘big reveal’ of the first 3 finished projects in March 2010. Each project will be undertaken by a specialist team of builders skilled in outdoor restoration work, with up to £20,000 being spent at each location, £100,000 in total.
David Titman, Bovril Brand Manager, said: “For over a century Bovril has been providing strength to people across the nation as they enjoy the Great British Outdoors, and the inevitably unpredictable weather associated with it. Now we want to show our support for the Great British Outdoors that brings so much pleasure to so many people”
The campaign has already proved a hit with outdoors enthusiasts from across the nation, with organisations including the Angling Trust, Ramblers Association, and the Camping and Caravanning Club providing their support.
Chief Executive of the Angling Trust, Mark Lloyd commented: “The Angling Trust is delighted to be working with Bovril and its other partners to find places in the great outdoors which need sprucing up. We will be encouraging the nation’s 3.5 million anglers to cast their votes to support habitat improvements, restoration of fishing huts, access ramps on the beach, or whatever else would improve the experience of angling.”
The Ramblers Association’s Head of Walking Environments, Adrian Morris commented: “Our partnership with Bovril is a brilliant opportunity for walkers to identify places where relatively small-scale projects could make a real difference for walkers on the ground.”
Marketing & Communications Director for the Camping and Caravanning Club, Matthew Eastlake commented: “The club has been in existence for over 100 years and provides a valuable service to active campers and caravanners. Like Bovril, the club plays a major role in making everyone’s camping experience an adventure, so we are delighted to be supporting The Bovri Great Outdoors Revival Campaign.”
