With cooler weather making for better fishing, Temple produces bumper catches with over 20 fish reported this week which included 5 thirties!
On a roll, Temple regular Dave Povey ended his week with a 6 fish haul, which he caught during a mid-week and weekend session. Including a mix of mirrors and commons, Dave’s catch was made all the better when he slipped his net under the Ghost which weighed 32lb 10oz, and before anyone shouts, yes that’s 7lb down on her top weight, but this time last year she was also caught weighing just 33lb 6oz hitting 40lb by late May. Dave also managed mirrors weighing 27lb 8oz, 24lb 8oz and 22lb 8oz as well as commons weighing 26lb 8oz and 25lb. Fishing peg 10 during his midweek session and peg 8 at the weekend
catching the Ghost following a switch to peg 6. All of Dave’s fish fell to 18mm Cell boilies, which he fished to the island margins with small PVA bags.
Temple guru Sean Howard had a good session on peg 2 catching a cracking 32lb 4oz mirror and 28lb common. With boilies becoming more the ‘in’ bait on Temple this year, Sean opted to fish Cell boilies catching on single baits and PVA bags which he fished to the open water.
Following the capture of a cracking 31lb 12oz mirror last week, Tony Watson returned this week catching a brace of big commons weighing 28lb 4oz and 27lb. Fishing peg 11, Tony caught both his fish on Cell boilies, which he fished to the island channel. Tony ended his session with a scraper twenty, a mirror weighing 18lb 14oz.
Another couple of anglers to score on Temple this week was father and son duo Barry O’Conner and son Ben. Fishing swim 15 and 13, the pair who are writing an article for Carp Talk reported three fish, a brace of mirrors weighing 33lb 2oz and 25lb 5oz for Barry and a 25lb 8oz mirror for Ben. All of their fish fell to Cell and Tutti Frutti Mainline baits which they fished to the island margins.
Mark Perry also managed a pretty 22lb mirror during his weekend session, fishing Cell boilies with small pva bags filled with loose offerings, Mark caught from the island margins in front of peg 12.
With red-hot action on Temple, the Old Lake also saw its fair share of action this week with a number of anglers reporting bumper catches with a few catching upwards of 10 fish or so to mid twenties. Kieran Delia was one angler who grabbed a quick midweek session catching 8 fish from peg 71 which included two good mirrors weighing 21lb 8oz and 20lb 1oz. All of Kieran’s fish were caught on Trigger baits.
Another angler to do well on the Old Lake was Ian Mann who managed 11 fish during his session. Fishing peg 3, Ian fished 18mm Icelandic Red boilies to the open water with his best fish, a pretty mirror going 24lb 14oz.
On his first trip of the year, Phil Taylor had a good session catching 9 fish which included a 24lb 2oz mirror and 21lb common. Opting to fish peg 4 on the front bank, Phil fished two 18mm Icelandic Red boilies over a bed of hemp and pellet 40m out catching a mix of mirrors and commons.
