One couple who woke up and turned the dream into something solid was Jim and Lynsey Pearce. Jim says, “Looking back I remember fishing as a young lad, on the wintry sands at Budleigh Salterton, dreaming of bright blue skies, crystal clear waters, and the heat of the sun on my back and the catch of a lifetime – the Big One! I’m not sure this is what Lynsey dreamt about but it’s exactly what we have found here, in this amazingly beautiful spot called Champs Romain. So with my huge passion for angling and Lynsey’s considerable D.I.Y. skills we have created a one-of-a-kind fishing lake with amenities to suit not just the keen angler, but the entire family.” The lake at Champs Romain is stocked with the highest quality carp – sourced from the most reputable fish farmer in France. There is a mixture of commons and mirrors, including plenty of hard fighting virgin carp to over 40lbs. There is also a large head of catfish up to 61lbs, with none less than double figures. Jim adds: “It was a total life-changing experience. So many people I spoke to in the UK are not happy about this and not happy about that, but very few do anything about it. “I think that the housing market was the main reason that I wanted to move, I was working all the hours god sent to pay for my house and realised that I was never there to enjoy it! So what was the point!
“I wanted to create the best family fishing holiday venue in France and I think that’s what we have done! Lots of other venues say that they cater for families but I am not aware of any that provide an adventure playground, table tennis, bikes, etc. And the best bit I reckon is our Tepee! Yes the Tepee. What better way is there to bond with the family? A night under the stars with the whole family cooking their meal on the open fire pit! “This is the perfect solution to the age old problem; dad wants his fishing holiday and mum wants the sun, and the kids want to be entertained! Our holiday venue combines dads and maybe sons or daughters passion for angling but also takes care of the rest of the family.” For all the details about Carp and Cats visit the web site: http://www.carpandcats.com Carp and Cats. |
