Fishery boss David deVere has been in touch to tell the stories behind an amazing string of big fish results from Temple Lake on the Bury Hill Complex.
Temple regular Craig Hess kicked off the latest Temple action following a great session, which saw him catch three stunning mirrors including Temple’s famous ‘Robin Hood’ at 35lb 6oz, a fish which Craig has caught four times before. Fishing peg 4, Craig’s other mirrors weighed 28lb 6oz and 24lb 6oz and all picked up homemade baits.
Following his recent success on Temple, which resulted in a brace of thirties, Jim Paveley from Epsom returned for another 72-hour session with his son, Tom. Fishing peg 9, Jim opted to fish Carp Company Cranberry and Caviar boilies which tempted a lovely two tone common weighing 26lb and a mirror carp weighing 29lb. Jim’s son Tom also had fantastic success landing a stunning mirror carp known as the ‘Italian Two Tone’ at 33lb and a 31lb 5oz common carp as well as a further 26lb mirror and a ghost carp weighing 17lb. All of Tom’s fish were caught on homemade steamed condensed milk boilies.
Jason Drew fished a 24-hour session in peg 6 and after casting to a showing fish tight to the island margin Jason was woken at 6.20am the next morning by a screamer of a run, which resulted in Temple’s infamous ‘Ghost’ in his net! Weighing 33lb 8oz, Jason said: “I’ve been after this fish for six years, although it’s a shame she is down in weight after spawning, but a stunning fish all the same.” Jason caught his fish on Icelandic Red boilies.
Barry Mogg from Hounslow also had a brilliant 72-hour session catching eight carp to 32lb. Fishing peg 10, Barry opted to fish 18mm single new Grange boilies tight to the island landing over a good scattering of loose baits catching mirrors weighing 32lb, 27lb 4oz, 25lb, 23lb 14oz 23lb and commons weighing 29lb 19oz, 29lb. Barry’s son Mark managed a 24lb mirror from peg 11 to round off a very memorable session.
Finally in the current spree, Adam McGinnis fished three overnight sessions after work, which resulted in six runs and five fish on the bank. After seeing fish roll off the island in front of peg 3, Adam put a kilo of bait out in one small area which resulted in a 31lb 15oz mirror, 25lb 5oz common, 24lb 7oz common, 23lb 12oz common and 23lb 2oz mirror. Adam caught all of his fish on SAE Bait Developments B1 and Scud combinations.
