As always, this months video starts with a round-up of catches sent in by viewers. They don’t all have to be 40+ monsters to make the galley and one of the more interesting catches for me this month was a beautiful golden scaled common. So golden it almost looks like a Koi, but at 25lbs 4ozs it’s a cracking catch for its captor Paul Bennett. Another great catch featured was for young angler Billy Giles with another common of 21lbs 6 ozs. Well done young man. There’s a very short section on the video entitled ‘Carp Crap’ where top angler Jim Shelley dispels some on the myths of carp fishing. Ian Chilcott shows how to make up one of his favourite hook rigs and what materials go into it. Gary Bayes is also in the ‘Bait Kitchen’ this month showing his tips on making up PVA bags, where to place the hook and the lead when you want to fish amongst the weed. There’s the usual reviews of the latest carp tackle including a full interview with Paul Garner of Wychwood showing of their new 4-season Flexi-rib bivvy and winter skin that is featured as ‘Platinum product of the Month’. Easy to assemble in 4 minutes and it packs away nicely in a compact bag. You may be tempted when you hear that the basic version is around a hundred quid, the winter wrap being around just £ 50 extra. And then we get down to the really serious stuff. There’s an extended piece with angling teacher Miles Gascoyne showing us his tips on floater fishing. What types of controller floats he uses and how to grease and degrease the line for the perfect presentation. And for the first time on Carp-TV there’s friendly (is this possible?) match between rivals Ian Russell and Iain Macmillan. After the first fish are landed by both anglers the competition really gets under way and it’s not only the lines that get crossed. This is supposed to be friendly and in the end the winner is declared and it’s hugs all round, but who wins? Find out by securing your copy of Carp-TV this month from many leading tackle dealers or direct from Carp TV – www.carp-tv.com or here at – www.newvisionproductions.com WIN a copy of the September issue by answering this question in the forum (see below: From what word is ‘bivvy’ derived? In other words, what is ‘bivvy’ short for? Two winners will be chosen by a draw on Sunday 21st September 2008 and announced by me in the same forum thread on Monday, 22nd. Easy question but a correct answer puts you in the draw for a free copy. |
