Cooper's PVA String

COOPER’S PVA STRING

PVA string is not the most emotive subject on the planet and in these ‘PVA bag or die’ day’s PVA string has taken a back seat to some degree. On the last day of last season I took a few carp from a difficult water by ignoring the trend of a spod here and a PVA bag there and substituting a PVA stringer.

Not rocket science but it goes to show PVA string has its moments.

Now like most of us I try not to spend any more than I have to and last year I took advantage of an offer I couldn’t refuse in a predator magazine. The offer was 6 x 25 metre spools of PVA string for £ 9.00.

Now that is an awful lot of PVA string for not very much. Most places sell PVA string for about £ 5.00 for 20 metres. So what is this ‘cheap’ string like?

The catch I referred to earlier was taken in March and I found on tests in the edge that the string took about 25 seconds to melt. There was no residue left and it is strong enough to enable a big chuck.

I was fishing in the region of 90 yards give or take a few. So it does all I require of PVA string. I now have enough for quite some time.

A nice touch was that my pack contained two closed lip baiting needles and a large darning type needle that are handy, plus a sealable plastic bag for each spool to keep out the damp. Excellent value.
