Another good turn-out for this league saw 22 anglers line up to dobattle at Retallack canal. This was a pleasant surprize as a lowturn-out had been expected due to several of the league’s regularsfeeling a bit poorly after a boat fishing trip the previous day. (Wewon’t let them forget it).

Once again the weather was kind but the canal’s Carp and Breamhave not yet spawned so a difficult day was on the cards.

And so it turned out to be.

The Talbot brothers made it a family affair sweeping the tophonours. Ian fished the long pole to the far bank with corn to bag 2carp and 3 bream for 13lb 8oz from peg 37. Younger brother, Anthony,on peg 41 used pole and waggler with corn for 12lb 6oz. Recentpractice sessions on the venue had payed dividends (not to mention acouple of bloody good draws) well done lads.

Third place was taken by yours truly with 11lb from peg 35.

Fourth place went to league leader Graham Curnow with 10lb 7ozfrom peg 14. Good enough to retain the top slot.

In fifth place was the man who should have won it from the hot peg40. Mike Yates however, only managed 8lb 8oz after losing a slab atthe net and very sportingly throwing back a carp!

The golden peg was 22 and would have been worth £ 48. So wemove on to Penvose farm in two weeks time for what promises to be avery interesting match. Both lakes booked.
