With the Real Cornwall Winter League next round being held atThreemilestone most teams sent a man along to the clubs open match tocheck out the action.
TMS in all its history has held 6-hour matches, where the norm is5hr or even 4hr events in some areas. And six hours on Sunday withgin clear water following a mega cold spell for us Cornish, felt like10 hours.
Catching a fish was an event all on its own. When I arrived at thelakes to find out how things were going, anglers were talking about’the fish’ (singular) or that they had not caught at all. Bob Yeomans(RNAS Culdrose) was being singled out because he had three fish afterthree hours. Although Bob himself said it was only two fish.

Neil Hall had landed a decent bream and was thought to be holding1st spot at the half way stage. Nine of the 20 pegs were blanking, with two anglers leaving through not having a touch up to andincluding the 4th hour of the match.
After six long hours, visiting angler John Shirley (Phoenix) hadcaught consistently on small silver fish for a winning weight of 3lb6ozs. Neil Hall (TMS Frogs) was second with a bream and a handful ofroach for 3lb 3oz followed by Steve “smokey” Robinson (RNAS Culdrose)with 1lb 9oz of silver fish.
As you can imagine the RCWL are hoping the sport picks up a littlebefore next weekend.
Until the next time, let hope you can get to a water and fish, ifnot keep up with all the news on the UK’s top fishing site,Fishingmagic.com.
