DAIWA EMBLEM LANDING NET HANDLE
Price: £ 15.00

Not too long ago if you wanted a specimen style, six foot long landing net handle you only had the one choice of something that resembled a drainpipe. That was unless you bought a very expensive purpose built carp landing net that would swallow a 30lb carp or pike. Fine, if that’s what you are fishing for, but what when your quarry is of a more modest size?

Popular today are the soft mesh spoon landing nets and one of the most suitable handles to accompany them would be a six foot long solid (meaning not telescopic or take-apart) stick, but not something that has the same diameter throughout. Enter the new breed of specimen landing net handles that are tapered, lightweight, strong, and above all, elegant.

Enter the Daiwa Emblem.

Although it doesn’t say I suspect this has a very high carbon content. At the fat end it is 25mm diameter and at the thin end (just short of the screw fitting) only 13mm diameter. There’s no cumbersome foam grips on it, just a rough painted section. It’s therefore very lightweight indeed and suits oval or spoon shaped landing nets a treat. The best news of all is that they’re selling for around £ 15.00 So it’s not as if they are going to break the bank.

Jeff Woodhouse’s VERDICT

This type of handle suits me fine. It’s the same length as many of the rods I use so it will also help to protect their tips when I push the quiver, with the handle, into the car.

I think it does look good and is easily manageable with a big 30″ spoon net on the end although you can use them with triangular nets as well.

Wonderful value for money too.
