Daz Daniels, a builder from Doncaster, is just a beginner when it comes to barbel fishing, but that hasn’t stopped him from getting amongst the specimens along one of Britain’s most prolific barbel rivers, the Trent.
His latest capture is this 11lb 13oz barbel he took from the middle reaches.
Daz and his big Trent barbel that weighed 11lb 13oz
Daz, a friend of Adam Roberts of the Don Valley Specimen Group, has been barbel fishing for only a few short weeks. Adam, although only 19 himself, is already an experienced barbel angler with some great catches notched up, and is obviously a good influence on Daz.
The barbel was caught on a 14mm pellet on a size 8 Korda Wide Gape hook tied to eight inches of 15lb Suffix Stealth Skin. He used a running rig on 12lb main line. Feed was a small amount of loose pellet and boilie.
The fish was caught in the afternoon in bright daylight.
