We finished our zander efforts for a while with a bang – or at least Dave did. He landed his best ever zed at 8lb 7oz. Considering that we’ve only started fishing for them late last season that’s not a bad effort.

Dave’s new PB zander – 8lb 7oz
He took the fish in mid-afternoon on a small, dead roach legered at 30yds range. We thought that was going to be the first fish of several, considering that we had the dusk and darkness period to come, when zander are supposed to feed at their best.

But no, it wasn’t to be. Apart from a couple of bleeps on one of my rods that was the only action we had.
