Bury Hill regular, Duncan Ansell grabbed a quick 24 hour session on Temple Lake last Friday the 25th May and was rewarded with his second Temple thirty in as many weeks, a stunning mirror weighing 33lb 14oz which was a new personal best for Duncan. Fishing peg 11, Duncan fished a fruit flavoured pop up out towards the island channel catching his new PB just a couple of hours into his session around mid morning.

The fish, which carries tag number 142152 was stocked on the 20th November 2003 weighing 24lb and was last reported being caught in April 2005 weighing just 27lb, meaning that the fish has put on 7lb in the last 12 months which is a phenominal growth rate and something that we have seen on a number of Temple fish! Duncan went on to finish his session bagging two further mirrors weighing 21lb 9oz and 20lb 5oz. Duncan’s first Temple thirty, a big common weighing 31lb 4oz was also another new Temple thirty.

Temple Lake has now produced 7 thirties in the last 4 weeks, a number of which are showing significant growth rates since being stocked which includes Duncan Ansell’s 33lb 14oz Mirror. Other notable fish include Duncan’s 31lb 4oz common which carries tag number 143222, this fish was stocked in Novemebr 2003 weighing just 21lb 2oz which represents an increase of over 10lb.

Neil Malcomson’s big mirror known as Italian 2, which he caught at a new record weight of 30lb 4oz, carries tag number 144125 and was stocked in November 2003 weighing just 23lb 8oz. Another notable fish was David French’s 30lb 10oz mirror which carries tag number 183467, this fish was also stocked in November 2003 weighing 25lb 2oz.
