Ebro fishing-guide Gary Sheridan decided to send in some photos to up the jealousy quotient on Fishing Magic. He succeeded!
Not content with rubbing our noses in the horrible weather we’ve been suffering lately, Gary told us that last week he’d had some special clients who had a fantastic catch.
Eleven year old Ben Turnbull treated his dad to a trip fishing the River Ebro near Caspe. Ben’s first fish was a superb catfish of 96lb which fought like a ‘crazy mad thing’. “You should have seen his face. It was a complete delight” quipped Gary.
Ben’s father just had to beat that. After all, he couldn’t have his son beating him. After a short time that’s exactly what happened and he landed a superb wells catfish of 180.00lb. The pair also lost a few good fish.
The two anglers were on a short trip which was planned in a rush. They arrived in Spain only 4 days after deciding to go, after researching who to go with on the internet. They certainly picked a good time for it. During their stay – and as well as the mighty moggies – they also landed plenty of common carp to 44lb and zander to over 4lb.
Gary told us that the month of October produced 45 common carp exceeding 40lb for his clients, including some fifties, bringing his total of 50lb+ fish to 15 this year. He didn’t mention how many 20s and 30s as I don’t think he bothers counting those!
