After finishing fourth behind the Italians on the first day, the English showed their true mettle on Sunday when they stormed to win the second day with just 19 penalty points on a rock hard venue which saw many class anglers fail to catch.
This was England’s first gold medal on French soil and you have to look back to the Chalon sur Saone event in 1973 when they scored a bronze team medal.
