Summer might be just about over and the trout season drawing to a close but it’s not quite time to put the fly rods away, not yet! The grayling fishing is coming to its very best, so why not make it an autumn to remember and become the 2011 England Youth Flyfishing Rivers Champion?
If you’re 18 or under and enjoy flyfishing, this is just the opportunity for you!
The 7th annual Rivers Championship, sponsored by Richard Wheatley, will be held at the Lower Itchen Fishery on Sunday 27th November 2011 and will be used to help select the world team. There are some fantastic prizes and the championships form part of the selection process for the 2012 World Championships to be held in France during the summer of 2012.
Lyndsey Farmiloe, Managing Director of the Lower Itchen Fishery, said:
“This will be our second year hosting an event for the EYF and we are delighted to offer our fishery to such a prestigious event. Fishing needs to attract and encourage the youth of today into a sport that will hopefully stay with them for a lifetime and bring them in touch with nature and the outdoors.”
David Mee, England Youth World Team Manager, added:
“It’s fantastic to be hosted on the Lower Itchen Fishery again this year. The championships give all those that compete the chance to make it into the world team, develop their skills and fish for their country. However experienced you are at river flyfishing the opportunity is waiting for you to take it”.
