Price: £ 5.25 PER PACK In 14, 16 and 20mm sizes I’ve always preferred to use a pop-up which is identical to the base mix I was using, rather than dedicated pop-up mixes. I don’t know whether it really made a difference; probably just a confidence thing. As I get my bait rolled for me I had to buy a kilo of paste and make them myself with cork balls, but always worried about them becoming washed out too quickly, especially when left out for long periods. But not any more! The new corkers have cork dust (now there’s a thing!) combined into the mix, giving a bait that’s as close to the base mix as possible, with excellent buoyancy and a firm texture. Split one open next morning and they still look ‘proper’ and are obviously much firmer than cork-balled baits. They have to be kept frozen when not being used, or air-dried, as they are a ‘proper’ bait, but I’ve found they keep fine in the matching glug (so-far). Picture shows the corker next to three bottom baits – almost identical! If you’re an Essential user, and don’t make your own bait, give them a try next time you buy some, I’m sure you’ll be more than happy. |
