For this reason, FM confidently announces a Prize Writing Competition to run from now until the end of May (2016) Entries must, of course, be angling-based, but they might well embrace other dimensions: there’s no end to the number of possibilities – fact or fiction, sea, game, coarse or exotic. Try to aim for at least a thousand words. Just e-mail cliff@wheretofish.co.uk and attach your Word article.
A red letter day in New Zealand?
This is a great chance to invoke one or more of your most remarkable memories and have it published here on FM. Where appropriate, photographs, illustrations, maps and diagrams are encouraged. There are simply too many possibilities to make suggestions here: the world really is our lobster!
A surprise specimen from a local pond?
Even with a heavy response there will be space and time to publish every entry. Initial ‘filtering’ of submissions will be done here at FM Towers then passed to an independent panel for fine-tuning and eventual grading. This will not necessarily be based on grammatical correctness: we’re looking for novelty, interest and, perhaps, innovation. First prize will be a short stay and a day’s fishing on the Wye with former angling guide, Graham Elliott. Runner-up prize will be a Wychwood Carp Rod and Reel Combo.
