Former US President George Bush, father of the US Presidential contender George W Bush, arrived at the Florida Keys for a bonefishing tournament and promptly declared that he would not be talking politics.
At a reception in advance of the tournament in which he is a competitor ex-President Bush said, “I’m not talking politics or my family, I made that perfectly clear,” Then added. “Now fishing, I’m going to talk the next three days.”
Bush was vice president to President Ronald Reagan when he first visited the Florida keys for a spot of bonefishing.
Now there is an annual George Bush/Cheeca Lodge Bonefish Tournament that raises funds for conservation issues.
When asked how he thought his son George W Bush was doing in the elections he replied, “He’s a great fisherman. We went fishing over the weekend and he didn’t catch a thing.”
