Win a Fishrite Xtreme Bait BagThink of a witty caption to the bottom photograph on this page and if yours is chosen as the best one you’ll win this great Fishrite Xtreme Bait Bag. This is a thermally insulated bait bag that can carry more than enough bait for the long stay angler. The adjustable internal Velcro dividers means that any ratio of boilies, particles (or deadbaits for the predator angler) can be stored snugly. The bag has a foam carrying handle and a shoulder strap and lots of smaller pockets for all those smaller items of tackle. It retails at £ 22.99.This is a Caption Competition with a difference, for the whole thing was a set-up, a scam on FishingMagic Forum regular Baz, Angel of the North and the Devil’s own Bailiff. Baz is well known for his regular rants (most of them wind-ups) about taking membership cards from anglers who fall foul of him when he does the rounds of the waters he bailiffs. He can fill whole threads with tales of his conquests in his personal war against rule breakers. If the death penalty was still with us he would be known as The Hanging Bailiff. But It was payback time. Last Saturday, at the Ribble Fish-in, me, Dave Chilton, Eddie Bibby, ‘More Spiders’, Andy Nellist and Wol Gaunt got together and a plot was hatched. Luck was on our side for as we walked the banks looking for Baz we found a Longridge Town Council ticket that proclaimed, ‘Thank you for helping to keep Longridge clean’. Quite ironic really as it lay amongst a pile of other litter, but it was ideal for our purpose. Dave folded the top over so that the ‘Supplied Free’ bit was covered up and, accompanied by ‘More Spiders’ (a rough looking diamond at the best of times) he and Dave approached Baz and tapped him on the shoulder. I was 30yds or so upstream, trying to keep out of sight behind a straggly bush, camera at the ready. “Excuse me,” Dave said in his most intimidating and officious voice, flashing the Longridge card, “I’m sorry to bother you but we’re from Longridge Town Council and we’re conducting a litter check today and I notice you’re surrounded by it.” He pointed to a piece of plastic that must have been carried down by the floods weeks ago. He also had a wad of litter in his hand that we’d picked up along the way. “Oh, sorry,” Baz spluttered, “I know you’ve got a job to do. I understand really.” Dave gave him a good dressing down for leaving litter while Baz, teeth chattering either with the cold or with fear (we don’t know which) apologised and began to pick up the litter. Dave couldn’t keep it up though and burst out laughing. As the rest of walked up to them Dave was explaining that we’d set him up. The air turned blue. It was cursing with laughter though, as Baz took it all in good part. “You *******, you ******* ****, you’ve really had me good style. I’ll never hear the last of this.” “No you won’t Baz, not if I have anything to do with it.” I replied. So it’s down to all FishingMagic members now to come up with a few witty captions to the photograph. The best caption, as decided by the editor, (that’s me) will win the Fishrite Xtreme Bait Bag. As always the competition is run on the forum so that everyone can see each other’s submissions. It’s payback time, your chance to batter Baz the Bailiff. Study the picture and think of a really witty caption. But remember, as always, this is not the Bait Box section so keep it reasonably clean.
