Run in conjunction with England Youth Fly Fishing, the youngsters will be given first class instruction at one of three top fisheries, including casting tuition and fly tying demonstrations, by certified instructors – who will also provide all of the tackle required for the day.
The courses are to be held on three separate days at Chigborough Fisheries, Essex; Toft Newton Reservoir, Lincolnshire and Lockwood Beck, North Yorkshire with the Toft Newton and Lockwood Beck days totally free of charge. The Chigborough event costs £25 per child in lake fees – but the tuition is provided free.
Angling Trust spokesman Stuart Sharp commented:
“Kids are the future of the sport so anything we can do to get them interested and involved in fly fishing is worthwhile. If just a handful of the youngsters who take part go on to become fly anglers then we have done a good job.”
Children need to be booked into the fly taster days in advance and parents and guardians can contact the fisheries on the numbers below to book places, which are for those aged 17 years or under on the day of the event.
