Report for week ending 6th August 2001
Best fish of the week was caught by Long Eaton, Notts angler Mr E.Glinka. He took a superb 8 lb 4 oz Rainbow from a boat over theAerators. Mr Glinka also had a 5 lb 2 oz fish a few days later. Thesewere amongst bag limits on each visit and fell to an Olive FritzLure.
Another fish well worthy of note was taken by Mansfield angler MrAlan Goddard. This one tipped the scales at 7 lb and was part of abag whose total weight went just over 181/2 lb taken on a DamselflyNymph, again over the Aerators.
Alan’s boat partner Darren Pickering had 4 fish over 4 lb, 2 fishover 3 lb and 2 over 2 lb. A total weight making over 26 lb.
Mr D.Ritchie from Coalville also had a good day over the Aerators.He tempted 8 fish to the net on an intermediate line and an OliveFritz lure. The weight for his fish was just over 18 lb.
Apart from the Aerators, which are obviously fishing exceptionallywell, the bank fishing has improved also. The stones in front of thefishing lodge have been fishing well as have Verduns Point, Hut pointand the Cascade area.
Carvers Arm has fished well from the Cascade to the Gorse Bushesfor boat anglers also. Again the fish are not far beneath the surfaceand Black Buzzers, G.R.H.E nymphs and Damselfly nymphs have beenamongst the best patterns.

Week totals – 111 fish caught from 52 returns giving a rodaverage of 2.13 and an average weight of 2lbs 3oz.
Seasons totals – 8344 fish caught from 2927 returns givinga rod average of 2.85 and top rainbow (so far) is 15lbs 2oz.
