I have just taken delivery of a 2500 ST FB baby Shimano baitrunner.
What a sweet little thing. I put it next to my 6000s and it really is like a baby reel.
Off to use it tomorrow on my light feeder rod.

Looks like a lot of reel for not too much money. (Something under £40??)

I'd be interested to hear your initial thoughts once you've put it through its paces....

Yes, I have the Dl version as well and it goes perfectly with my light feeder rod.

All the best

I have two of these, the ST and the DL, one lives on a float rod, and the other on a feeder rod.
Like them a lot, did swap the single handle for a double one on the ST.?

Used two for some months now feeder/bomb fishing on a lake with bream, carp and tench present etc and cannot fault.

Is this the smallest reel you can get that has a baitrunner feature, does anyone happen to know?

Probably Dave. I had a scout around on the web and the closest I saw is a Browning size 30.
I am not sure there is a market for anything smaller than this 2500.

I guess ultralight worm trundling in streams is a bit niche, fair point lol

Streams in Essex? I was dragged up in Dagenham when it was still Essex.
I fished the Roding and out as far as the Chelmer.
I suppose there must be streams further out towards Suffolk?

I have one, it's a fantastic little reel for the money. I use it as a bit of an all rounder. Would definitely buy another.

I saw your PM before I saw this post. No don't give away your treasures.
Nice to see youngsters being encouraged. Best of luck.

I have the 4000 DL and am thinking of a 2500 size, which would you say
is the better, the DL or the ST, the 2500 size would be going onto a 12' float rod. thanks

the reason I am doing it is for 11 year old grandson, if I can get one with a spare spool the reel will also be used on a feeder rod in the same session.
Make one rod up as normal, remove spool from reel, remove reel from rod,
fit spool in PI spool holder that then goes on rod butt where reel sits.
Put spare spool on reel, fit reel to other rod, and make the other rod up.
Cheaper than buying two reels, Downside is can only use one rod at a
time, which is not a bad idea when you are only 11 years old.
