I watch videos of top match anglers netting fish where their net pole is bent double, not for me I'm afraid, add to that they will be using 6m landing net poles soon, I wonder when fisheries will make a rule banning them over a certain size....

I have two landing net poles Alan.
A very stiff 6 footer for pike, chub bream carp perch roach etx and a non or very little bending ten footer, both with the appropriate heads.
I usually use the ten footer (its in three sections) with the end section left out (the wider section) when fishing the Tidal trent for smaller end fish like roach, chublets, bleak, and skimmers on the feeder or stick float.
But, a long pole thats bent to me, looks unstable with the user lacking control of of nets contents.
Obviously its down to the users own preferances but a bent pole isnt for me.

The price (£275) was for both the ‘Handle and the Net’ and not just for the handle as some seemed to imply;

Still far too much for me; however if someone gave me it for a gift I wouldn’t say no :)

Never £275 for any item of fishing tackle. My nets plus handles were around £50. But each to there own. I have spent far more on golf clubs.

I have had a Drennan 3m Twist Lock for at least fifteen years. Up to last week it has worked perfectly despite having to do several 20lb+ vertical lifts up high banks and having had 40lb+ catfish in the net. I now use a length of parachute cord tied around the net frame to take the weight off the handle when fishjng from high banks. I cleaned the widget, cleaned the inside of the outer handle and sprayed some graphite over the widget. It now works perfectly again. I think, from memory, it cost just over thirty quid. The net head cost around the same. How can you justify paying nearly three times that total price for something that does the same job?

A rod or reel I can understand, but not a net.

I have two 3m twistlocks, a Darent Valley 3m, plus an old glass extending landing net as a spare, the three carbon handles are in different holdalls for different types of fishing, a six foot handle would only be used a handful of times a season, I prefer it if I could, but it doesn't suit the majority of swims....
