Challah is available in supermarkets these days. I remember the days when the Jewish bakeries in East London only sold it on Fridays.
The pronunciation of the word ' challah ' is actually 'kholla'
The kh sounding like you're clearing your throat....

Don't tell the Kosher Nosh-tra, but it makes a 'squisite bacon butty!

The Jewish bakers know a thing or two about making bread as a kid in Dalston in the east end. You were taught only to go to the Jewish bakers even if it meant a mile walk and if you went to the nearest instead you knew mum would twig it .
