Signed up.

Member number 38446...... more than thirty eight thousand in less than 10 days - not bad at all.

At that rate they I would have thought that they are well on the way to getting the 100,000 initial members needed. Here's hoping.

Keith Arthur's view

No mention of the SAA there, though.

No specific mention Woody, but I believe he has covered them;

"The main organisations involved are the National Federation of Anglers (NFA), National Federation of Sea Anglers (NFSA), Anglers' Conservation Association (ACA) and the National Association of Fisheries and Angling Consultatives (NAFAC). The smaller groups affiliated to those bodies are automatically included.

The one party missing is the Salmon and Trout Association, which applied for charitable status long before the event. This prevents the organisation from offering member services available through the Angling Trust so, despite making the same financial guarantee and input as the other parties, they will remain outside but very much onside, if you get my drift."/forum/smilies/smile_smiley.gif/forum/smilies/wink_smiley.gif

Woody are deliberately being provocative?

You Know because Mike Heylin (former Secretary of SAA) has told you, he is a Board Member of AT.

Do you really think Mike is going to sit at board meetings and let others (if they decide to)walk all over the specialist anglers?

Fat chance of that knowing Mike as I have done for over 15 years!

What you don't know is that Mike has been the Driving force behind the formation of AT with the fullbacking of the now defunct SAA. The countless hours he has put in to make AT a reality are incalculable.

Mike is a top bloke, totally committed to representing the Specialist anglers views at board level.

Though your constant snipping, I detect a very green streak of envy at the formation of ATand your none role in it.

"Woody are deliberately being provocative?"

You're a right load of numpties particularly you Phil! It was John H who was saying that the SAA wasn't being properly recognised the other day. All that I'm doing is just posting reports as they're passed on to me from Fred French via John Ellis.

In other words - I'm doing more to promote this new organisation than any of you lot!

.

.

.

Addendum: I couldn't give a flying fig who runs it. I don't want to be involved any longer on any committees unless they are A) local and B) serve local anglers.

I've looked at Elton's site, and I said it or hinted at it on here.

You won't persuade new members by bullying, and John your tone, and that of others,IS bullying!

Ido hopeI do not fall within your comments Fred, I have contributed twice on Elton's site, the first to post a pressupdate, the second to try to restore some sort of balance and add a few facts to help clarify a negative ,untrue slur against the Trust, that is not my definition of bullying............ forthright, honest and opinionated maybe, but never bullying.

You know what Fred, I'm kind of losing the will to live, and not because of what you or even Elton have said.

At least we have something in common Jeff, the link men.

Yeh right you are Woody!

One only has to do a quick reference check on what you have said on this site over the last 2 months to see you have constantly snipped at this new body and its formation.

The word Numpty fits you perfectly!

Oh and BTW haveYOU joined yet?

If not, it's somewhat hypocritical of you to promote (if you're doing as you claim)a body you are not a member of.

Bob, I was refering to posts on this thread.

John, what you have to accept is that some people have a different opinion to you, and that's all.

Anglers will/may join but cajoling won't help.

What defines you as a numpty, Phil, is that your can't get your head around the fact that whatever my personal opinion on the new set up, I am merely showing anglers all the references to it that are passed on to me and allowing them to make their own minds up. It's exactly the insulting behaviour that you display that will put them off joining. I think your public relations experience must have come from the Herman Goering school.

My will to live (losing of)Fred has no connection to what the guys on here think or don't think about the AT.

Life is too short

After a confrontation I had with a shopping centre security 'person' this morning Jeff comes across as almost saintly.

All I did was attempt to buy a Big Issue from one of its sellers, he actually grabbed the paper from me and threw it back to the young guy selling them saying he wasn't allowed to sell them there. I then offered to give the young seller the £1-50 and he said I couldn't do that either, but I did. When I asked for his name and ID he refused and pushed me away. Needles to say I have reported the Fascist $astard.

As chairman of English Carp Heritage Organisation, vice chairman of former Specialist Anglers Alliance and owner of a tackle shop, I was proud to witness the launch of the Angling Trust on Wednesday at S&TA HQ Fishmongers Hall.

Having been marginally involved and fully supportive of the process over the last few years, much thanks should go to those who found compromise and finally unified the main angling groups for the benefit of the sport for generations to come. The 5 way business merger itself was an amazing feat, but the additional support generated during the process has also been valuable.

This is the long game guys, and one that won't be won overnight, but certainly won't be lostdue to lackof effort and or foresightfrom those working in the Angling Trust.

I can gice you my personal assurances that specialist anglers will have their voice, albeit still heavily reliant on the voluntary sector at this time, but with a greater membership, the Angling Trust willseek toimprove the services currently offered by the former Specialist Anglers Alliance. This improvement will only be realised if specialist anglers join ofcourse!!

Iwould strongly suggest that anglers are fragmented not angling itself.........

"Never doubt that a small group of committed and passionate individuals can change the world.............indeed it is the only thing that ever has."

I urge you to put your misgivings and apathy aside for 2009, send in your £20 to register your support of AT's principles and direction, and have the de-brief in 12 months time-give them a chance guys, it may well be your last IMO.
