I've been tempted by Alderfen for a couple of years now. Shift work means that I'd be Billy no mates if I went midweek but I'm not too keen on the weekend hordes! Bit of a catch 22 really.
I'm quite happy to go anywhere that's not dodgy, provided that there's something worth catching. Barbel, carp, bream, tench or even lumpy perch, roach or rudd. However, if there's too high a chance of catching nowt and being Billy for a few days, I can stick with my local haunt and save on petrol.

A1 on the 30th June looks OK, Alderfen seems a little far away for a day trip (although out of the two venues the latter looks more my type of fishing)

Up to mid-doubles in the carp lake, will that keep her happy?
In the specimen lake, tench over 8 lbs, rudd over 3, roach to just under 3, double- figure bream and large perch and crucians, with a low stock of
carp to double figures. According to their website.
Ron told me there is good tench fishing in the match lake too.

Did have an earlier look Spiders, probably Pits 2 or 3, or might just do some trotting on the Trent. No point in buying 12lb line I'd never use it again

theres toilets and fresh water,chinese and indian deliver to gate.
