Advice on a new reel

I have purchased a new Abu 706 closed faced reel.
On opening the reel I have found the internals behind the spool covered in grease. So my question is do I clean off all this grease?
I have looked on "you tube" and the one being shown was completely clean of grease.

Outer bell, inner cup and any spools, clean them completely except fro any around springs and clips maybe.

Don't get offended, was it 2nd hand or new?

I've had one old 505 since the seventies that still has traces of grease in the mechanism behind the spool. Both of the 507 MK2s I bought in the nineties are still well lathered. I'd leave it well alone unless there's so much grease that it's migrating forward of the spool.
