Because they don't read this forum so they don't realise that our methods and tackle are nothing like what they use.

Scuba Chris is making money out of product placement even though few if any of the products that he is pushing are of any interest to us. All he and the manufacturers see is the 100k membership. Spoon Minnow can't have read any posts on here or he wouldn't come up with a thread saying that braid is best for all types of fishing or that lure fishing is better than bait fishing They don't read the forums or try and participate. They just copy / paste the same posts on multiple forums for their own benefit, not ours..

If the manufacturers realised that out of the 100k memberships very members read or contribute to this forum they wouldn't so keen to pay him.

It is the same on a French fishing forum. Every day there is a list of members who have their birthday. 90% of them have never made a post. They have a link to some pharma' or porn' website that they think will attract hits. But unless they post on a thread nobody sees them.

It is Canadian owned , so maybe that's why products from abroad are being reviewed.
I use hooks called Tru-Turn Ive not seen them over here for ages , but they are available over there. I am lucky I have managed to find some in the smaller sizes and not the anchor sized hooks they normally use . Running low so I will have to get some more .

Of course they have fishing forums in America. With similar threads to ours. How did y'all get on? The (smell of napalm in the) Morning Thread. All the usual stuff.

Some of Scuba Chris's blatant product placements make me smile. But I don't see why we shouldn't put up our own reviews of UK-relevant stuff.

I'd happily review plenty of mine - but the market's mad obsession with new product - let's all run faster to stand still, or even go backwards - means that by the time you are in a position to do a long-term review the product is no longer available. For heaven's sake, people put up "reviews" on the internet of stuff they are just getting out of the box.

Is the product any good? Too early to tell, as Chairman Mao is reputed to have said about the French Revolution. I call it good when it still works and I still like it after at least 10 years.

Exactly Kev. That is why I ignore the nagging to review something that I have only just picked up and haven't had chance to use. If I order from pechepromo they used to give me the opportunity to review every single item, right down to split shot and swivels. I sent in one review that said: It's a lead weight ffs. What do you want me to say? They don't ask now :ROFLMAO:

Like you say; by the time I know that it is good enough it will have been discontinued.

As has been said a couple of times already, by the time you have had a few fish on a product, they have stopped production of that item!

A few times I have had success quickly with a new rod/reel/ whatever and liked it enough to put a few words on this forum. But anyone interested would have to be quick to buy another!

As for the guys from across the pond putting up review after review......

I am often asked to provide a review of a product bought on line but not even delivered yet. They get a snorter.
