BANK SIDE - Barbel Fishing

Recently started fishing for Barbel. At the moment, I'm using a small rod rest with the rod perched in an almost vertical position but the rest appears too small and doesn't give enough support. I've seen some other anglers using Beach Tripods on the riverbank. I was thinking of geting one? Good idea? Are they practical? Would I look a tw4t?

I use a power bankstick with a buzz bar on with the 2 rods a 45 degrees. I have thought of using my bach rod tripod in flood conditions when i would like to get my rods higher.

That's what I use. With a screw thread at the bottom.

i've used a beach tripod when the rivers up, they are hard to beat for keeping line off the water.

Terry at Gold Label did a very good adaptation of a beach rest. Only 12" long but it screws onto a normal bank stick. Then again I would only use this in extreme floodwater conditions. My advice is not to copy what other people do but fish comfortably. If you want a pukka rod rest I really rate the quick strike offered by Enterprise Tackle.
