barbel fishing

a local tackle dealer to me has now started a range of barbel and chub gear alledgedly these are the in fish at the minute.


how come

most rivers i fish are deserted i think in the last 3 years on our clubs stretch of the ouse i have seen in total six or seven other anglers.

I would take the opportunity to fish them on your own then while you can then, especially if your stretches hold decent barbel. Although rivers are not as popular as they were, they are definitely the preference of me and everyone I fish with. I drive a minimum of 65 miles each way to get to a decent stretch of river, rather than go to a stillwater a couple of miles down the road.

And barbel just have to be the most exciting fish to hook, especially in a tight and snaggy swim.
