I seem to recall there being available carp hooks with a larger than normal eye.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please.
Google just threw up carp hooks.

Chances are that anything with 'carp' on the packet will have larger eyes than regulation.

Tongue in cheek.. You could get stronger glasses.........:wh

HA HA HA:D I have a problem with large rudd and roach not my eyes.:eek:mg:

If I want to target tench and carp on one particular water and avoid being mullered by the above who seem intent on tangling my hooklentgh in knots when they cannot quite manage a 15m boilie and size 6.

When they do manage it, its not much fun on a carp outfit.

I use something like 15lb coated braid UNSTRIPPED as far as the hook eye.
The only part stripped is the hair. This stiff(ish) hooklink seems to work as does to some lesser extent flouro stiff line.

Hence the need for a bigger eye to get the unstripped braid through.
Simples:)

Fox Edges have big eyes, even in size 7 and 8
Very useful range, I used them for many years in the smaller sizes

Generally, the thicker the wire used the bigger the I/D of the eye. So, just as an example, a hook in 0.90mm wire will have a bigger eye than a hook made in 0.80mm wire. You tend not to get hooks made with 'abnormally' big eyes because otherwise in bulk (imagine 10,000 hooks in a box) they end up as a tangled mess - a giant metal Hedgehog !
