Anyone know the best one for fishing a river please
Diawa sensor or hyper sensor. ?????

Just plain Sensor. The barbel love it. The master aka Tigger is in contemplation at the moment at his country retreat but would endorse Sensor wholeheartedly. I think I can safely say you can't go wrong.

A good quality monofilament of 10-12lb bs is what you want.
Personally I use Berkeley XT, it’s a bit thick but it’s got good abrasion resistance for those Wye trips. Gardner GR60 is another favourite among barbel anglers.

I use Sensor allot since Big Game became harder to get. Its a good line especially for the price but I still prefer BG which is/was in the same price bracket.
I have not seen "Hyper" Sensor but I am generally not too enthralled when they change anything about the products I use...I was in a cold sweat when they changed the packets Drennan Super Specialist hooks came in for example.
I am especially wary of anyone who adds words like "Hyper", "Ultra" & so on to things. "New" I have unfortunatly found is not always "better".

Yes one notices that any product fishing or otherwise with the new improved formula is rarely that. The packaging is often the same but the quantity inside is reduced. They think we are stupid.

Just to counter the cynics. Bog standard Daiwa Sensor is still available at (roughly) the same price as it ever was. Hyper Sensor is a different line that's slightly more expensive. It's not especially new anyway, it's been available for at least a year or two. Daiwa have yet to hint that Hyper Sensor is a replacement for Sensor.
I am not doubting its different, and I am certainly not doubting its more expensive..I would be surprised if anyone adds the word “Hyper” to a product & then makes it cheaper !
What I am doubting is whether its indeed any better.
Where I am cynical is that all my instincts tell me that they didn’t bring it out to catch me more fish. They did it to make them more money.
Be interesting to hear from any bog standard Sensor users out there who have used it…

Until they discontinue Sensor, why would you even care? You've lost absolutely nothing by them introducing Hyper Sensor. You can either try it, or not. Your choice. Whether you do or don't, bog standard Sensor is still available to you.

I also care to the extent that I did not even know there was a line called "Hyper Sensor" so being a Sensor user it jogged a mild interest for me in it.

Sensor and Hyper Sensor are two different monos. Hyper is thinner and more supple in a similar diameter and it’s supposed to be more abrasion-resistant, although I’ve yet to use it somewhere where that’s a factor. It coils less off the spool from my experience.

Because, by your own admission, you've not even tried Hyper Sensor, but that wasn't stopping you being cynical about it despite standard Sensor still being available. I'm not even a big fan of Daiwa, or Sensor, but I can't see how anyone can justify such cynicism over a product that they weren't even aware of. If they'd actually discontinued standard Sensor at the expense of a more expensive Hyper Sensor, your cynicism may have been justified. They haven't, so it's not. You have moaned about a product you have no knowledge of. You are at a loss at my response and that makes us equal because I'm at a loss by yours.

If it's any interest, I read the book " Monsters of River and Rock" by Iron Maidens guitarist Adrian Smith.
In it he mentions the brands of rods,reels etc he uses on his travels here and abroad, and the line he uses is Sensor.
Bit of useless info I know,but if Sensor is good enough for @tigger it's good enough for Adrian Smith.
The book was a good read if anyone was thinking of buying it.

Been using the bog-standard Sensor and Sensor clear for around 15 years or so. Never had any problems with it.
Back in the day it used to surprise me the caning they both used to get on these forums, with tons of serious vitriol... very emotional stuff, some of it.
I use Reflo for hooklengths. Quite possibly one of the best lines of it's type ever made.

I had a look yesterday when I was clearing out the attic and realized I was confusing sensor hyper with shimano technium for some reason . It would explain why I thought there was a big difference!
I did find some sensor and some hyper as well, hyper does have a smaller diameter and is more supple but the difference is not as big as I’d thought.
