My selection is a tad similar to the previous posters Will spencer & Mr Poshpaul. The original Drennan - Tench float, Waggler,Stick,feeder,Specimen, legermaster, bomb rod . And just because I like them and still use them,the efgeeco bait boxes & Intrepid Elite

Shimano 3500 Triton Sea Spin reels. My old ones are a bit knackered and need replacing but there are none on the market which equal them. So I'll continue to use knackered reels .

Heavy isn't the word! I dallied briefly with a couple of 3500Bs for carp before getting my hands on a pair of second-hand Tournaments, and they nearly killed me. I reckon if you dropped one from the top of the Empire State it would penetrate the Earth's crust on impact (and probably still work).

Davis Tackle had some GLT 'The Rig' in stock last time I was in there (a month ago). Even if they've sold out, you can still get the components individually from Gold Label stockists; Yateley Angling Centre have everything you need - tubing, hard brown beads, silicone and swivels. Just add a length of Kryston Silkworm, a suitable hook and a lead and you've got as good a carp set-up as any of the latest complicated arrangements. The only difficult part is threading the line through the tubing!

For me its the 'wychwood' or abu redicat catty,still use mine and have actually made a copy out of 'ally',for me the best angling catapult(for small baits)ever made.

Shimano Technium Specialist 1.25 tc

This was my 1st rod and IMHO is second to none as a general all rounder.

A Diawa Silver Series fixed spool reel - the little one with the manual bail-arm - fabulous reel with a 7' rod for spinning.

As well as river duty I used mine for the odd mackerel session and didn't rinse it after use:eek: - the handle corroded and broke, and I was talked into buying a DAM composite-body job, which was ok, but nothing like the Diawa.

I had one of those but swapped it for my Free Spirits + cash. The quiver section wasn't at all good and was a pain to use. I'd heard horror story's of people snapping the quivers when casting - anything up to 2 -3 inches. You also had to check every time before you cast out that the line wasn't wrapped around those annoying betalite holders things on the end of the quivers.
Don't get me wrong the Technium is a super float rod for tench and other specimen fish but the quiver section is pants.

i will gladly send you the money for a couple of packs of "The rig" and money for p&p etc.... I can`t find em in my neck of the woods for love nor money !!!
Also i think someone mentioned "Big S" plugs ??? I saw an advert for them in the current anglers mail,so they must still make them???

If I think of it I'll pick up what they have next time I'm down that way. Failing that, Yateley Angling Centre do on-line orders, so you could pick up the tubing, beads and sleeves separately from them that way - would be cheaper too in the long run.

Just caught up with this.

I'd have to disagree wrt the quiver comment. Assuming we're talking about the same technium as they did a few different styles and models but I think as a chub leger rod it's excellent. In fact I'd say the shimano technium avon section was the poorer of the two tips. There is a thread here somewhere about those of us who snapped the top 6 inches off our avon top.
