I don't really have a 'go to' rod, as like some of others on here it entirely depends on the water I'm fishing, the species I am aiming to target and the method I am going to be using..
However if I had to choose just one rod that gets a lot of use compared to my other rods it would probably be my 12ft Greys 1.5lb/2lb tc Multi-tip Specialist rod, which has a lovely forgiving and slightly less powerful 1.5lb tc tip which I often use for Crucians and Tench at mid to long range or for touch ledgering for low water Barbel, plus a second 2lb tc tip which is slightly more powerful but is still forgiving which has caught me several Carp over 20lb off the top and bottom plus a few Barbel in floodwaters. Both tip sections feel fine with the bottom section too unlike some other twin-tips that I've used.
If I ever fish a water that is new to me then this rod is often the first rod that I will reach for if I am not going to be using a float; or my 15ft Hardy Marksman Specimen float rod if I am.
