Favourite Method?

Eddie's asked the question, what's your favourite water and method.

Right now mine is small(ish) stillwaters with buzzers or dry fly.

I used to really enjoy stillwater fishing.
Floating DT line, long leader with nymphs or buzzers my favourite method.

Sadly, most of the waters I used to fish in Hampshire are now way beyond my pocket.

My favourite waters were, Damerham, Avington and John O'Gaunt's.

For me, an intimate little stream with wild brownies in it fishing upstream nymph or dry fly. The fish don't have to be big either. A pounder can be a monster.

Next would be a reservior with plenty of overwintered rainbows and the odd brown in it. Nymph fishing with a floating line or a dry fly is my favourite.

Again I value quality rather than quantity. A full tailed pristine silvery rainbow of 2 lbs with pink flesh that has grown-on on natural food is worth a thousand 10 lb pellet fed stocked rainbows with half a tail.

And I have caught my share of the latter in my life time.

8 miles long, 4 miles wide; every drift is different; catch on wets and dries; never know quite what to expect next; Brownie, Sea Trout, Grilse or even a monster Pike. No stockies though.

Lough Conn (or any of the big limestone loughs of Mayo and the surrounding Counties)are not, imho, surpassed.
