Isn't it ironic that most fishing clubs are open EVERYONE, yet the Fishing For Everyone Fishing Club is for LADIIES ONLY??????

They should change the name to Fishing For Everyone As Long As You Are Not A Man.

And the BBC is reporting on it in the club - what about all those time England are world champs at match fishing and don't make the news on BBC or any other TV

I think it's a good idea to try to introduce more women to the sport of Angling, pity it's just got a stupid girlie name. (i bet a blonde came up with the name).

I have thought long and hard about this one.

A club of any kind, other than say "The Pudding Club", that is exclusively for a certain specific gender is discriminatory and sexist, and not the sort of thing we should be promoting in this day and age.

I have not met Lucy Bowden (a nice Cornish name, she might even be distantly related to my late wife), but I think she is a nice girl. Just a little mixed up if you ask me, and that penchant for pink wellies - uuurrrggghhh!!!

She needs to understand that the most unsexy colour a woman can dress in is pink!

By the way, I've never seen a man in the Pudding Club - yet!

The Labour Party has a 'Womens Section', Ron. It might even have a Womens Angling Club. Note it's not 'Ladies' in the LP. They're usually confined to making sandwiches for the Durham Miners Gala

There is also Casting For Recovery, residential fishing and casting tuition courses aimed at women recovering after surgery for breast cancer. I applied for a place after my boob job but I don't think they accept hairy &rsed chub anglers.

Strangely, I was never offered breast reconstruction or even a prosthetic breast; is that discrimination against men

I'm all for complete equality of the sexes John. Unfortunately most women are not. They want specialised women's this, and specialist women's that; we as men don't.

Fishing for everyone thread

Hi,
As a newcomer here I am a little dismayed by the comments made by some here.
I run a small club in South Wales, mainly for ladies who would like to fish away from the guys.
Why, well the answer is that when there is a group activity, regardless of the activity involved, introducing men to the group changes the dynamics of the group. I have seen a pleasant days fishing totally ruined by a bloke joining us. I am yet to meet a guy who isn't competitive and has an ego to match.
This may sound more than a little sexist but it is true and judging by most of your comments I rest my case.
