Morning all,
I haven't put this in the fly fishing sections.... because I don't want to fly fish. I am going up to visit a friend and we are going to a day ticket trout stocked reservoir. I usually carp fish or float fish with a match rod. I am wondering what methods I could use to bag a few trout. I have a spin rod that I will be using on and off but what is the most effective method for getting trout without using flying gear. Can I just use a bubble float on my float rod? Or can would it be better to use a swim feeder with some maggots and ground bait and a big work on a size 8 barbed.

This is also my first post. So apologises if it is in wrong section.

Tomo

It is probably best to check on what methods are permitted on that venue for the rtout in the first instance.

Are you located in Larkhill in Wiltshire?

Hi,
There is no restrictions on methods. I am located in Larkhill in wiltshire for work. But I am traveling up north. To a place called Hury reservoir.

If there are no restrictions then you probably cannot beat float fishing maggots. Feed a few every second cast and you should be fine.

Depending on the stocking levels you might get bored catching them though.
