I have quite a few Greys Prodigy rods but when I was sorting through them all I found one marked up with ‘Greys Prodigy‘ and ‘12ft Specimen’ and nothing else to indicate its test curve or its recommended line strengths or anything else which might tell me of this information.
I must have bought it from a car boot sale as I don't remember buying it new; and there’s a Shimano Hyperloop RK reel fitted to it as well which I wouldn’t have chosen myself if I’d bought the reel from a tackle shop.

All of my later Prodigy rods have their test curve written on them; and a model indicator (SX or whatever); so I assume it was produced early on in the Prodigy range and was probably the first Greys Prodigy 12ft Specimen rod???
It also doesn’t have the usual Greys disc on the end of the butt like my other Greys rods do.

Can anyone confirm to me anything about this model and what spec and test curve this rod had as there are later models of their Specimen rods with test curves of 1lb, 1.25lb and 1.75lb?..

Failing that I’ll just have to test the rod to find its test curve using scales or weights and put a sticker on it to give me an idea of what line strengths I can use with it :)

A bit late, but I've only just come across this post Keith. I thought that it was another section where pro' sellers talk to themselves.

The Greys Prodigy range had two twin tip models; 1.25lb & 1.75lb and a heavier 1.5lb & 2lb option. The butt section is not marked, but the top sections have small markings just above the ferrule joint. Could it be one of those with the other section elsewhere?

Clive, I already have one of the Greys Prodigy 1.5lb/2lb Twin Tip rods and I don’t think its one of those as the tip section isn’t marked with its test curve unlike the Prodigy Twin Tip rod that I have; where both of the tip sections have their test curves printed on the base of them; plus my Twin Tip is marked as a ‘12ft specialist Twin Tip‘ and not just a ‘12ft Specimen’ like this rod.

I suppose it is possible that it might have the tip section from another Greys rod that just happened to fit perfectly; however it doesn’t have the usual Greys button on the end of its handle either.
I thought it might have been a very early Prodigy Specimen Rod.
