Another shot of the same fish
I deliberately chose the picture because I knew it would be hard to estimate the weight of the carp. It was held at an angle and was a funny-shaped fish and held by a funny-shaped bloke. It was hard to estimate as the guesses ranged from about 16lb to about 42lb.
There was no editing of the picture in photo editing software.
Anyway, to give you a better idea of what the fish really looked like here's my old mate Rik Belenger holding the same fish, which was caught during the same week in France and at exactly the same weight on Rik's scales; 34lb on the nose.
At the time Rik was about 18 stone and built like a brick outhouse.
Just thought I'd share that with you, but now it's back to blissful retirement.
PS: Food for thought for all those who say that little blokes always make the fish look bigger.
