It was cheap, just wish i'd clocked it!
I've seen a few XT avons and other rods up for sale over the last few months and the prices they've been charging, and getting, have confused me a little. As you say they were the lower end of the marksman range.

The Smuggler Avons do go for good money Skip, there's still one on the bay but at £400 with a bust zip I reckon it needs some adjustment on the price.

I reckon Alan's would get snapped up just as quickly, it's a very desirable and fairly rare beast in the two piece version which I took the big Barbel on earlier in the week and even rarer in the highly desirable smuggler version.

That's interesting. As you know I have long lusted after a Marksman Specimen and had one off the bay ( smuggler version) last year or maybe thd year before. No bag or tube but soon rectified with a Hardy 4 piece salmon rod bag.....right colour if a little long. I've used it a couple of times but not had a fish on it yet as the barbel fishing round here is somewhat challenging. Cant remember what I paid but it wasn't more than about £160 iirc.

I see that the guy who's got the same rod I've just sold but listed at £400 has also got an XT version... Again at £400.

I can't understand that and can't see anyone paying £400 for an XT, as you know it is the budget version that Hardy introduced behind the Marksman range.

Probably of a similar mindset to the sellers that ask top dollar for any old Normark.

Ive got the 11'6" specimen smuggler that I'll swap with you, or if someone is prepared to pay the same sum can buy off of me,it gets used a couple of times a year....

Edited to add: Sorry, just realised this is the 11' Specialist and you've got the 11' 6" Specimen so it's not yours, I'd fancy yours to fetch a similar price though.

Hardy's are fetching great money just now. I sold my supero ext 13' float back in September.
