Returning angler here after 40 years.
Fished as a youngster in South Africa for trout and yellow fish on a fly rod.
Been in the UK for 5 years and my flat borders on a public lake, Broadwaters, in Weybridge.
Got myself a budget match rod and ledger rod in summer and had some decent luck catching carp, trench, bream and perch using maggots, bread and pellets. It's been a lot harder in winter, only the odd carp as dark falls.
Got myself a 8m system whip (fascinated by the pole anglers!) and have tried the Thames and Wey canal for anything....not much luck thought...just a few roach, but absolutely loving it.
Been trawling through the threads here and getting loads of information but will still be asking for advice probably.
