Once again, a warm welcome is always guaranteed at the Horncastle Angling Centre in Lincolnshire.

Craig and Sharon plus assembled team were on hand to direct customers with tackle for valuation and sale.

A cluster of good early Hardy Perfect reels, brass reels, and antique and modern tackle was bought. A Farlow six-section bicycle rod made of ash, greenheart, and lancewood dating c1870 came in. Sadly, its incomplete condition meant we wouldn’t buy it, but it made an interesting historical chat with everyone grouped around the huge desk area keen to find out its past.

As the day progressed Charity stands and tackle suppliers arrived to help promote the Fin-Tastic evening.

On Track Fishing were proud to be there “hoping to clear minds through fishing” discussing the advantages angling can offer relating to mental health issues.

Paul P, a highly skilled wood carver brought a few samples to display. Despite being an “amateur carver” he has won many competitions in the Expert Carver category in the USA, the heart of the wood carving culture. No surprise when you examine the minute detail he produces, even the handmade water looks wet and drippy!

The little carp he is seen cuddling took him over 100 hours of intensive carving. It took a LOT of persuasion to prize it out of his clutch but it has now been sold to one very very happy customer!

A great day as always at the Horncastle Angling Centre.

They are already planning another event for early 2023 season. Thomas Turner have been invited back and we look forward to meeting customers old and new on the day.

Thanks guys.
