What gets me is the price of some of this stuff. 13 feet of carbon, 4 or 5 rings, one Fuji reel seat (I used to buy a Fuji Reel seat for no more than ?4.00 in SA) and a bit of foam rubber.

Some of these things cost over ?300!!!

People must be mad to buy them.

I was just thinking that if you were lucky you could buy a small boat for that price then you wouldn't have to cast 1000 yds.

Ron Clay How much would you pay for a good rod ?50,00 OR ?150. You see i have paid ?100 for a rod ?130 for reel.its not the cost its the quality.and they last a lifetime,buy cheap by twice.

I don't generally pay much more than ?100.00 for any rod. Yes I fully agree with you that you get what you pay for in terms of quality.

However some prices ARE over the top. Carp rods and fly rods particularly so. There is less actual labour in these rods than many others.
