I've got the opportunity to fish basically ANYWHERE on earth this summer/forum/smilies/big_smile_smiley.gif as me and the Mrs are planning on having a baby next year so we want to get one last perfect holiday in before the little terror comes along and takes over. she’s getting a huge bonus from work/forum/smilies/big_smile_smiley.gif so now we're looking for somewhere to go around july, she’s cool with me fishing while away so i want to see where you guys would recommend?

the only limitations are:

1) it has to be hot, with beaches etc...the Ebro is saved for my stag week/forum/smilies/wink_smiley.gif

2) it has to be outside of the UK

3) if at all possible id like to be able to fish from either a small boat or the shore as i dont want to have to spend a fortuneon boat hire for deep sea stuff

thats about it really....has anyone fished from the beaches in the carribean? or mexico?

cheers guys/forum/smilies/smile_smiley.gif

The Seychelles!

Unfortunately this last haven of true beauty and tranquility has been spoilt by the building of bars, hotels and other horrible tourist catering rubbish.

In the old days The Seychelles was the archetypal tropical island with waving palms white beaches and lots of bonefish. You could get a crude beach hut for a few dollars, it wasn't much but with lots of cheap local beer and rum and the fish in the sea, what more did you want.

In one word - FLORIDA.

Islamarada for one place. There's places you can fish from the shore or a short trip with a local skipper and you could be into some giant tarpon.

Florida is fairly cheap to get to on flights and doesn't take to long. Sandy beaches and plenty of other things to see if you hire a car. She'll be occupied and you'll be well chuffed with a monster tarpon.

Other than that Australia, but think of spending 23 hours on a plane. Urgh!/forum/smilies/sad_smiley.gif

Here's another link.

Just ask Morespiders about bonefishing! He's going bonefishing in a short while, I understand.

The Seychelles looks amazing, in a way i think a little commercialism might be a good thing as there dosnt seem to be alot to do for the non swimmer (the mrs, something i want to fix before we go) so at least the tourist traps aresomething to do whenwe want a break frombeach life.

my question is, can you fish from the beach? what tackle would i need and what can i expect to catch?

the websites say that the best time to fish is october-march, is this just for big game fishing? i imagine that the inshore fishing is fantastic all year round.

thanks for the great responce by the way /forum/smilies/big_smile_smiley.gif

I visited the Seychelles in the 70s, before the place became commercialised and the hotel chains took grip.

The fishing was absolutely wonderful. You could catch a whole variety of species from the shore, small boats or rocky gullies. There was also the chance of a marlin if you had some cash.

In those days these islands was NOT the place to take a woman. You went there with a few friends and got to know the local creole girls, some of which could be strikingly beautiful - a hundred Halle Berrys all together./forum/smilies/tongue_out_smiley.gif

I am sorry to say that since the commercial boys have done their worst the place has become a bit like Tenerife.

There IS . . . . WHERE?

"a hundred Halle Berrys all together"

Noting that the real Ms. Berry is 40 years old, this year.

Back on topic, I am not a fan' of the heat, so my choice would be a couple of weeks coarse and fly fishing in Southern and Central Norway.

Super people, great food and some of the best unspoiled fishing in the Northern Hemisphere.

Probably Canada. A friend of mine fished the Fraser River a few years ago.

Going on his experiences and superb photos not only of the fish but scenery,it certainly looks and sounds astunning place.

I agree with Woody -Florida is the place. My favourite is Marathon Key. You can go out on a boat, hire a guide (expensive) or just mooch about by yourself. The mainland of Florida is also worth a look - the Atlantic beaches fish well on plugs and there are loads of Large Mouth Bass places inland.

"Uh's the tart on the boat Meldrew,? do you know her?."

About as well as you know that Lauren!/forum/smilies/wink_smiley.gif

.

Must admit, if it couldn't be Florida, then Vancouver area or Australia. The journey to the latter puts me off even though I could go there and stay with my late cousin's wife.

So Meldrew, just how well do you know your late cousins wife?.

Very fetching photo of you GEOFF, you almost look unintelligent like me. Although you dont have the same filmstar look's, my granny says you look a bit like GEOFF Chandler.

You look like youv'e gone home fishless once again.
