of the constant slagging off of Carp anglers on FM! Why is this, and I am not talking about the "Chav" eliment here, as that has and always will be there in any branch of angling! How many of you actualy fish on waters that Carp anglers also fish? By this I mean good mixed fisheries and not muddy holes in the ground, stocked full of bland "Pasties" but proper mature pits and lakes which also contain good Perch, Tench, Bream and so on.
So what's the beef with Carp anglers? I started as a general angler catching many species before I even considered trying to catch a Carp, for all I knew they were a myth, and not stocked everywhere as they are today! But after seeing a 12lbs Monster landed I knew I had to catch one! And after a lot of reading (no forums back then) and a few months latter I landed my first ever Carp, a Mirror of 17lbs from a very difficult, large Kent pit, and I have not looked back!

So come on Guy's what is it that you hate about Carp anglers???

i agree its tiresome and boring to keep hearing that carp anglers have done this that or the other, it seems as though according to some they are to blame for all the ills in angling, i started fishing for carp at the age of about 12 that would have been in 1960 my first double came on floating crust and weighed just over 10lbs, i no longer fish long sessions for carp due to my health but during my many years fishing for carp i enjoyed it. there are lots of branches of angling that i havent tried or would find boring, the ones i havent tried are through choice as i know they are not what my fishing is about but i RESPECT THE RIGHT OF OTHER ANGLERS TO FISH IN A WAY THAT THEY ENJOY as long as it doesnt harm the fish or other anglers, i really have no idea why there is this attitude by some people towards GENUINE carp anglers when the truth is that you can find idiots in ANY branch of angling.

some of the anglers that fish for bream on a local water also moan about carp anglers when they cant catch bream "its all the high protein bait going in" is the usual moan, this is on a 20 acre water where you might find 4 carpers at a weekend, in fact they dont catch because they fish in the wrong areas with very little bait going in, perhaps they also should look at themselves.

I think you will find that those that have a pop at carp anglers also continuously bang on about anything and everything that is not exactly as they do it or want it to be. It seems to be human nature "You don't want to do it like that...", "You don't want to be a Muslim/Christian/Darwinist/etc...".

Some on here seem to thrive on controversy, I try to ignore them.

I get tired of Carp Anglers moaning about other Anglers moaning about Carp Anglers ..... but you don't hear me complaining about it.

Just agree to disagree and get on with your fishing, can't be that hard to do. Defend yourself and your fishing and let others look after there own, after all, you can't defend all Carp Anglers in what they do as you don't know them all.

Noknot-- I have absolutely nothing against carp anglers tho I suppose I am guilty of taking the pee on the odd occasion but thats all it is from me-- a bit of fun.
Back in the eighties I suppose ninety percent of my angling was chasing carp on many of the Notts pits and the Trent where I did ok by my standards and the venues standards during those days but all the time I was enjoying it I was an aunt sally for all and sundry at work or my club or pub in the match oriented south yorkshire during those times, things like --all you sods do is turn the noise up and go to sleep, wind em in on cable wire, they ,uk themselves and all you do is wind em in-- the whole caboodle- but it was water off a ducks back. But I let my fishing do my talking. An example--- mate n me go to pay his match fee-- spare seat offered to me--- I decline-- mate tells em I am a carp angler--- all the above p--- taking ensues-- I rise to tuants and say ok- I will go to match on Trent-- they rubbing hands saying they have a sucker--- They dont know I did lots of match angling -- Day of match bad weather,it late october-- fools have poles n no stick floats odd one use quiver-- I do but use red creed wheat as bait as it produced carp earlier in week-- I have one big carp of eleven pounds on sixteen hook--- match angler who taunt in pub behind, he say to mate "ope he loses it"---- I dont!--finally win match with sisteen pounds-- tuanter say to friend "lucky sod"-- I rise to taunt again and say"you bin hounding me three times now- I have last say and he skulks off-- I win fifty pounds. Guy on coach say he saw me throwing red bait in asks what it was -- I say mini red boilies -he see red!
Carp anglers one-- match boys nil!!
There-- it all balences out in the end.

I've had as many dissagreements with Matchmen, Barbel anglers and indeed any 'specialist' type of angling as I have with Carpers. Personally if it floats your boat, doesn't spoil someone elses enjoyment and is within the rules of the fishery. Then fill your boots. If i had one gripe more than any, it would be useing rods with a tc far in excess of what is necessary, then skull gragging a fish to the bank (within the rules but unethical imo). Which unfortunately just so happens to usually be Carpers.
I think the problem quite often lies with the fact there can be only so much within fishing to talk about. People put up these posts because they have nothing better to say and because they know they will get a rise.

I think you are over exaggerating a little. I have nothing against you personally as a Carp Angler but that doesn't mean i will agree with everything you say or do when Carp Angling.

Some Carp Anglers are Darn Right Irresponsible, which in turn leaves Carp Angling as a whole labelled with these tags. The same applies to all walks of Angling, there is always some who would ruin it for others.

I have nothing against the vast majority of carp anglers. In fact this year I've been doing a fair bit of carp catching myself. Biggest fish: 20 1/2 lbs caught on a pineapple boilie. I also caught over 40 fish up to just short of 10lbs in one session, and I can assure you a double figure carp from Vaal Dam is a monster as the average these days is around 5lbs!

I've also caught quite a few fish off the top at a Lincolnshire lake which shall remain nameless or I will get into trouble. Great fun on bits of bread crust. And the fish were all "wild" sort of common carp without a mark on them. Mainly mid doubles too.

It's all been great fun.

same here ian. i clean up my area and leave nothing behind but footprints. every time i go to my favorite spot there is litter from other fishermen. bait containers, old line, wrappers, etc. i was taught to respect nature. this is what it boils down to RESPECT. some have it others don't and won't.

I take supermarket plastic bags with me - everything 9including bit of line I cut of when tying hooks0 goes in - then I take them home and in the bin they go

Me too - I also once spent 20 minutes untangling a tin of sweetcorn which some yobs had tied into a tree for a laugh, using fishing line.
