I've personally got no problem with someone spending as many days as they want on a water. But, and it's a big but, when it encroaches on the pleasure of others then I don't feel that's right.
I tend to do 99% of my fishing on waters where you don't see another soul anyway.
As for spending extreme numbers of days on a water - chance would be a fine thing...I'm sure that for 99% of us, with families, jobs and dare I say it, a life, it just isn't practical anyway.
